The past decade has been a turbulent time for the East Asian Prosperous Coalition, a superstate dominated by the traditional great powers of the Far East: Japan, China, and Korea. A rare occurrence in the world today, an insurrection in the Japanese homelands has led to a civil war, prompting a mass exodus of refugees from the country. Many of these refugees have found their way to Foxville, and among them is Rei Nakagawa, a young, enchantingly beautiful boy from Kyoto, who has been training to be a geisha ever since he was a child. Foxville has had a substantial Japanese population for many years, and the city even has a Japanese district located in between the Progress Quarter and Oldtown, home to a number of traditional tea houses, sushi places, and even a sumo wrestling arena. By far the most famous institution however, especially popular with tourists, is the Home of the Silver Moon, the city's one and only geisha house. Rei has managed to secure himself a position there as a maiko, and he has already become exceedingly popular with the local clientele, even though his mastery over the English language remains somewhat limited. He is known for his performing skill - as a dancer, singer, and musician, he is the envy even of the more seasoned geisha, and his beauty is the talk of the town. His mannerisms are also exceedingly dainty and feminine, perhaps even more traditionally 'girly' than most actual women - unsurprisingly, he grew up and was raised almost exclusively by female geisha back in Japan. He has many admirers, and some say that even though the geisha are no longer known as sexual companions, the House of the Silver Moon has been known to make exceptions for the right price.
