Not all too long ago, Ilse Nordström was a woman who seemingly had the world at her feet. A senior executive at one of Sweden's largest investment companies, she rose to corporate power owing much to her personal charisma and uncanny ability to read the financial markets. There was a very good chance she might well have ended up being named CEO had her career trajectory continued as promised - but alas, it was not to be. An insider trading scandal threatened to derail the entire company's fortunes, and one of Ilse's direct subordinates, a handsome young financial analyst, was implicated. Though they were rightfully imprisoned for their crimes, Ilse was held responsible by the board - there were rumours that she and the analyst were having an affair, and she turned a blind eye to their suspicious trading activity.
