The incumbent mayor of Foxville, a progressive, fiery latina wildly popular with the city's youth and immigrant population, but less so with others, especially the old guard.
Three years ago, Adriana Rodriguez was elected as the mayor of Foxville, the youngest woman to ever hold the position and only the second from a Latin American background. She grew up in the city, the daughter of first generation immigrants from Central America. When she was a little girl, her family had almost nothing to their name - she had three younger sisters and there was scarcely ever enough food to go around. But her parents were determined and hard working, and they instilled their same values into their daughters, especially their eldest. Adriana was a bright, ambitious child, and she flourished in school. Even while working more than one part time job to help support her family, she kept up on her grades and was eventually able to secure a scholarship to Fox U. There, she studied law and political science - she briefly practiced as a public defender after getting out of school, before getting headhunted by the Foxville branch of the Democratic Socialist Party. She quickly rose through the ranks, and when the previous mayor was forced to resign in disgrace, she was the party's natural choice to replace her - it just makes demographic sense, given how enormously popular she is with the city's substantial immigrant population and politically conscious youth. Since becoming mayor, she has worked to polish and sharpen Foxville's already impressive image as a progressive, forward thinking city. She has pushed several local reform initiatives, many of them aimed at improving the lives of the city's underprivileged, and has been a major supporter of Foxville's push towards increasingly self-sufficient, sustainable living. However, she is not without her detractors. Adriana has been especially critical of Foxville's police department, and even had the Chief of Police dismissed after taking office. Election season will be coming next year, and she's already campaigning with promises that the missing persons rate in Foxville will be her top priority if she's re-elected. This doesn't sit well with the local law enforcement, to say the least.
